more info for developing a gdesk plugin

to create your own plugin for the Gdesk apps, you have to have SE symbian development tool and gdesk plugin kit. if you go the sony ericsson website.well... it kills me everytime i read this

This means that the darkest fears of UIQ phones' users became reality: the UIQ platform is now really and offically dead... My-Symbian would like to thank all people behind UIQ for their hard work and giving us all such a great mobile platform. These 6 years will always remain an important part of history of mobile technology. We deeply hope that their intellectual and creative potential will not be wasted and that they will have another chance to impress us once again with great products, hopefully still Symbian OS based. My-Symbian will continue supporting the UIQ platform, its users and software developers. If you have a UIQ phone and you're satisfied with it, keep using it! well, if you just want to have the taste of UIQ platform. You can get an UIQ phone. its cheap and reliable. But no further development will be done for the phone. Since my w960 purchase, i notice there were only 2 update available for my phone. there are customizable roms made by some modders available for download. flash at your own risk...

Gdesk 0.33e software plugin

I previously shared the gdesk 0.33e here. 0.33e version is very special. There's a few version of gdesk v0.33e out there that support different features. I can only share you this one.

The version that im using support page scrolling, flicking and page snap.

Well thanks to those great gdesk theme makers that added more plugin to the software.

Theres a plugin called -function server- created by CellPhoneSoft. The plugin only can achieve Its fullest functionality only with 4 application which you can search and download via the net @ http://cellphonesoft.com.

1. Swiss manager - for task manager and ram management.
2. Bunch lunch - to launch a few application at one time. Limited to 7 bunch list.
3. Tweak peaks - to optimise graphic acceleration.
4. Big ben - screen lock.

Mostly people now prefer ilock.
Ilock is a software that function like the apple screen lock and unlocking. Big ben apps is very hard to find since ilock are free and screen pix are customiseable.

Gdesk 0.33e with autostart

GDesk is a customizable and extendable desktop system for UIQ3 PLATFORM.

you can customize new layout on your main screen. Gdesk will replace your main standby screen, its like a new layer covering the original standby screen such as TouchFlo 3d on WinMo. Icons can be placed on the desktop representing applications, page links and plug-ins; these can then be launched by tapping them.

Plug-ins can be added at any time and as required, i attached the SDK also for you if u are a expert in that.

understanding your w960 bateri life

i have a friend who also owns a w960 complaining about the phone power consumption. he says the battery life drops too quickly. what i mean is like when the phone is fully charges 100%, within just a few minute of minimal usage, you'll notice the indicator suddenly display a 95% battery when the icon is pressed.the TALK and STANDBY times depend on the actual ransmission conditions when under usage of the phone and setting of the phone.

yes... w960 does come with a very poor battery. with 950 mAh in capacity surely doesn guerantee any long lasting usage under heavy using. but it doesn ate much of the battery. we have to understand that the battery indicator for the w960 was design to displays power in 1% enhancement not like other phone that comes with a 10% or 20%. thats why u don see the battery bar decreasing so fast. 1% enhancer are more persistent to me to budget my use of the phone before charging back the power.

here's some tips on preserving and expanding the phone battery life, it just that we need to learn how.

when in a very low state of power, the LED under the phone side to the connecting port will flash in red.

this mean you need to charge the phone. with an original charger. it only took 4 hours to fill up the battery again to 100%. remember to always off the phone before removing the battery unless under undesirable condition.

 1. always turm off the connections such as Bluetooth and WiFi when not in use.
 2. mark OFF transitions in control panel.
 3. set backlight of the screen and keypad to auto.
 4. mark POWER SAVE in control panel.

lastly if you planning to go for a long trip on the road, go get a car charger or silent the phone or switch off the vibrate option to save the battery life.

W960 carholder

Today i just want to share one of my most practical accessori for my w960. I say its a practical item that i bought because i usually spent my time on the road. Having a high stand to place my phone is usefull. U can answer calls using the loud speaker if u dont have a bluetooth handfree. Syncronizing the player with a compatbie car audio player is easy, managing the song is fun. Since w960 doesn have a GPS receiver, its a pity. But u can still install a data base software for your device such as google maps.

Leaving 2009 with lots of sweet and bad memories... Wellcoming 2010 with a wide open hand.

And i dedicated this post to my beloved brother, mohd taim who past away this 29 of december, 2010 due to TB lungs. May he rest in peace. Al-fatihah....
